Donald Mineral Sands, Murray Basin
The Donald Mineral Sands (DMS) Project is a world class mineral sands project located in Australia’s Murray Basin. The Donald site shall be a conventional open-cut mining operation, with an expected mine life exceeding 30 years. After mining, minerals will be processed by on site conventional gravity separation methods to produce a Heavy Mineral Concentrate (HMC). The HMC product will be washed, dried and loaded into fit for purpose transport modules prior to delivery to a Victorian Port Facility. Concentrate from the Donald Mineral Sand Mine will be upgraded and further refined in a selective Mineral Separation Plant to recover demand products of zircon, rutile, ilmenite and leucoxene. The mine site is close to existing infrastructure and DMS aims to utilise local and regional networks to support growth for this generational project. Further product developments produced from Donald will be achieved using technical processes developed by Astron China.
DMS are currently reviewing project execution deliverables and defining acceptable establishment feasibilities to reflect the current economic and global demand climates.
